Julia Slone
Julia Slone
Upper School Chorus Teacher
Julia is a singer, voice coach, songwriter, music teacher and choral director. She has been leading singers of all ages for 25 years, from preschool classes to adult community choirs.
Julia grew up attending Green Meadow Waldorf School in NY, where she studied classical viola, piano and voice. As a teen and young adult, Julia spent summers working at Pinewoods Camp, where her musical education was infused with traditional song and dance from around the world. Julia went on to apprentice in choral directing at Marlboro College, where she founded the Marlboro College Women’s Chorus, and after graduating studied ancient vocal polyphony in the Republic of Georgia.
After teaching music for two decades at public and private schools around New England, Julia has above all enjoyed returning to her Waldorf roots to teach chorus at Gathering Waters. Julia performed the wedding song for Vermont’s first Civil Union, and has performed her original music both locally and abroad. You can listen to Julia’s original indie pop and choral works here: https://juliapru.bandcamp.com
When not teaching, Julia loves trail running, exploring her adopted home state of NH, and spending time outside with her two children.
