Laura Rubiano-Gomez

High School Math and Science Teacher

Laura was born in Colombia, and eventually came to settle in Los Angeles after her family moved to the U.S. She was introduced to Waldorf education at the tender age of 5, and would eventually follow her mother's footsteps and become a Waldorf teacher herself. She developed an interest and love for science through her love of all things water, and nature walks with her mother and brother. A budding interest in bioengineering led her to major in Environmental Engineering at MIT, with further studies in Oceanography inspired by a summer spent in Venice, Italy. She has participated in various research projects and has spent over 365 days at sea in various locations --- from the frigid waters of the Irminger Sea near Greenland to the fathomless blue waters surrounding the Galapagos Islands.
