Nell Wiener

Nell Wiener (she/her)
Instrumental Music Teacher

Nell grew up in the music town of Ann Arbor, Michigan, where she attended the Rudolf Steiner School of Ann Arbor and spent her summers singing at summer camp. After graduating with a degree in Music from Wellesley College, she returned to those roots and joined the faculty of Monadnock Waldorf School in Keene as a music teacher. During her decade and a half at MWS she taught chorus and strings/orchestra to grades 4–12; a true renaissance person (and Waldorf grad!), she has served in myriad other roles including teaching middle school main lesson blocks and math, chaperoning class trips, coaching ultimate Frisbee, serving in leadership at the grade school and the high school, and coordinating scheduling. In her music classroom, she underscores the importance of teamwork and honoring the different gifts and skills each individual contributes to the group. Students have appreciated the upbeat, collaborative environment of her ensembles, as well as the eclectic blend of music she brings to class –– from Bach to the Beatles to fiddle tunes to music beyond the western canon. Outside of school, Nell is the director of the Pioneer Valley Symphony Youth Orchestra in Greenfield, MA, and maintains a private studio here in Keene where she teaches violin and viola.
