Karen Atkinson (she/her)
Lower School Faculty Chair and Lower School Educational Support Teacher
As Faculty Chair for the Lower School, Karen's primary role is providing pedagogical leadership and professional development for the teachers. Additionally, she supports students through extra lesson work in reading, writing, and arithmetic, experienced through the arts. Karen's work with Waldorf education, teaching children and adults, spans over three decades. Outside of school, she can be found on a nature trail. Karen is an avid hiker, and enjoys all forms of outdoor recreation. Through the Center for Anthroposophy, Karen serves as the Director of Summer Renewal Courses and she is the Coordinator for the Waldorf Leadership Development Program, both of which provide professional development for Waldorf educators and school leaders from charter and independent Waldorf schools. She continues to serve as a mentor for teachers and school leaders. Karen lives in Keene, NH with her husband, Mike, and is a proud parent of two young adult Waldorf graduates.
